Project overview
Tonopah Dairy is located in Phoenix, Arizona, and operates across three main sites: Tonopah #1, Tonopah #2, and Belmont Dairy, with a total herd of approximately 13,500 dairy cows.
The facility includes an anaerobic digester (DVO) with a capacity of about 611,520 cubic feet (≈ 4.57 million gallons), converting manure into renewable energy. The process relies on extensive manure and wastewater management infrastructure on sand bedding, including thickening and equalization pits, two 8' × 12' curved sloped screen separators equipped with automatic high-pressure cleaning systems, as well as multiple pumps and agitators.
After digestion, the material passes through an additional sloped screen separator and a 30-foot dewatering conveyor to efficiently separate solids. The resulting by-product is reused for soil fertilization, closing the loop in a sustainable circular system.
Valmetal Industrial-Series equipment offers durability, reliability, and low maintenance. With fully automated control panels, the system remains constantly monitored, allowing for quick response in the event of a malfunction or unexpected stop.
