Project overview

Amilait Farm, operated by the Houle family, is located in the heart of Centre-du-Québec. In January 2025, they began expanding their facility to integrate a fully automated feeding and manure management system for their 53 lactating cows.

As third-generation dairy producers, their goal was to improve operational efficiency while gaining quality of life and peace of mind. Within a few months, a customized plan was developed specifically for them, thanks to close collaboration between their local dealer and Valmetal. The wide and complementary range of products made it easy to design an optimal circuit.

Feeding system

Amilait Farm’s feeding system starts with a stationary AM-270 4-auger mixer, retained from their previous setup and supplied by silos. The TMR is then distributed throughout the entire barn, including the original section, via a belt conveyor network and a feeder kit. The entire circuit is managed by an Autoration PRO control panel. At the end of the circuit, the Orbi-Feed robot performs multiple daily feed push-ups to ensure cows maintain constant access to their ration.

Manure system

The one alley in the existing barn section is cleaned by a Dura-Chain XL unit, while the two new alleys in the extension are handled by a Dura-Chain 2XL. Straight scrapers and hydraulic gutter cleaners move the manure through a covered pit, reducing odors. A Liqui-Trans hydraulic piston pump and an electric agitator ensure efficient manure handling and prepare a smooth, consistent transfer to the external pit. The entire system is synchronized by the Scraper Boss PRO control panel. An air injector was also added as a preventive measure in case of overflow.
